His sudden change of heart caught me off guard, and for a moment, I stood there, wrapped in his strong embrace, absorbing his words.

"What?" I stammered, still not entirely comprehending his abrupt shift. "Golem, are you serious?"

He held me tighter, looking into my eyes with a sincerity that I hadn't seen before. "Isadora, I'm done running. I want to build a life with you, here in the South. I want a family, and I want it all with you."
