Chapter 3 XXX

Chapter 3 XXX

Nadine winced in pain when the doctor started cutting her flesh without giving her anesthesia. Then, she started to scream in too much pain! She saw red. It must be her blood, and it just kept seeping out of her body.

When she glanced sideways, she saw a puddle of her own blood! At first, it was painful, and then she could no longer feel the pain as her body started to become numb. She didn’t want to give up, however, her entire body told her differently. Then, for the last time, her eyes darted at the door, hoping that Alpha Marcus would suddenly come and stopped them from taking her life.

Save me, she prayed.

Then, she had a hard time breathing. She couldn’t breathe no matter how much she tried! She tried to open her eyes, but they wouldn’t open! Deep inside, she screamed for help but she was voiceless. She became so weak…and breathing her last breath was also a struggle. She didn’t want to die in vain, but she guessed that's how her life ended.

Suddenly, Nadine heard a commotion, and then she smiled upon seeing Alpha Marcus rushing towards her. He shouted at the doctor and reiterated that he only wanted the baby to die! The doctor claimed there was a complication while performing the surgery. She shook her head while trying to inform Marcus that the doctor was lying. She shouted at him but he didn’t listen!

When Marcus moved closer to her body, she followed him, and her eyes widened as she got closer to the operating table. Then, tears almost blinded her as she joined her body again. Everything was hopeless! He was late in coming to save her! She’s already dead! With so much hatred and disappointment in her heart, Nadine closed her eyes, and accepted her end, no matter how tragic it was.

However, her journey to the underworld was disturbed when she constantly heard a bell ringing close to her ears. In the haze of awakening, she gradually lifted her eyelids, blinking against the unfamiliar brightness. The room around her seemed simultaneously familiar and strange. The air carried a faint scent of lavender, triggering memories from long ago. As she turned her head, sunlight filtered through the curtains, casting warm rays across the golden cream walls.

Furrowing her brows, Nadine took in her surroundings, noting the elegant décor and the grandeur of the room. The bed, crafted from rich, dark wood intricately carved with fancy designs, caught her eye. Soft fabric adorned the headboard in delicate patterns, reminiscent of a style she vaguely remembered from her parents' home. Her gaze drifted to the bed, where super-soft sheets beckoned invitingly. The room was adorned with a plush rug underfoot, all elements combining to create a sense of comfort and luxury.

“I am glad you are awake now, Nadine.”

The voice startled Nadine, its familiarity tinged with a sense of betrayal. She turned to see Kate standing before her, disbelief etched across her features. "Kate... why are you here?" Nadine's voice trembled with uncertainty, struggling to comprehend the surreal situation. "This... this must be a dream."

Kate's expression softened with a hint of amusement. "No dream, Nadine. You're awake, and tonight is the party you've been eagerly awaiting."

Nadine's confusion deepened. "Party? What are you talking about?"

Kate's grin widened. "You must have forgotten your excitement. You couldn't stop talking about your engagement to Marcus Caldwell last night."

Nadine's heart skipped a beat. "Engagement... Marcus..." Her mind raced to make sense of Kate's words, the pieces of memory slowly falling into place.

"W-what?" Nadine managed, her voice barely above a whisper as reality dawned on her.

Kate moved closer, attempting to reach for Nadine's hand, but Nadine recoiled, shaking her head in disbelief. "No, this can't be happening."

Kate's demeanor shifted, sensing Nadine's distress. "Nadine, what’s wrong?" Her concern seemed genuine, yet Nadine's mind couldn't reconcile the woman before her with the betrayal she remembered.

“I... I need you to leave,” Nadine finally managed, her voice firm despite the tremor of emotion beneath the surface.

Understanding flashed in Kate's eyes. "Of course," she replied softly, retreating towards the door. Before leaving, she cast one last worried glance at Nadine, then quietly exited the room.

Alone once more, Nadine sank back against the soft pillows, her mind swirling with unanswered questions and fragmented memories. The realization of what Kate had suggested – an engagement to Marcus Caldwell – lingered like a shadow in her thoughts. Was this some twisted reality or a trick of her own mind?

She was confused. She wanted to ask Kate but she was livid with anger at the woman. She wanted to scratch both of Kate’s eyes after betraying her trust, and bribing the doctors to kill her on the operating table!

Yes! We are reborn! This is our second life, Nadine!

Nadine frowned upon hearing those words. The voice was similar to hers but it wasn’t her voice. Then, her eyes widened when the realization hit her that it was her wolf’s voice! If she wasn’t mistaken, her wolf wasn’t awakened even when she was dying!

Just call me, Étienne. I got a nice name for myself, right Nadine?

Etienne? Hmmm, she really has a cute name! Regardless if her name was cute or not, Nadine was flabbergasted about why Etienne decided to be awakened in her second life, instead of the first!

You should be happy that the Moon Goddess took a pity on your life and gave you a second chance. Let’s not waste this opportunity, Nadine. Get up, and let’s kick some ass!

Nadine was aghast! She had no idea how to act on the day she was reborn. She was seventeen again, and turning eighteen in a few hours! Etienne was right. She needed to get up. She had to seize the opportunity to meet those people again! If everything that happened on her previous eighteenth birthday would repeat, then tonight, she would lose her virginity to the Alpha of White Pride.

Marcus Caldwell.

He was the future Alpha of White Pride. He has blonde hair and long hair. His eyes were dark blue, and whenever she would stare at his eyes, she seemed to be staring at the deepest ocean in the world. He has tattoos on his arms that added to his charms. Marcus looked so handsome, and every girl wanted to get his attention.

“Nadine?”

Nadine was startled upon hearing Kate’s voice. Etienne growled, but she was able to control her wolf while facing the traitor. “Yes, Kate?”

“Do you think he will come tonight?” Kate asked while referring to Marcus.

For a moment, Nadine stared at Kate Fox. Previously, she was unaware of Kate’s fondness towards Marcus Caldwell. The future Alpha of White Pride was her childhood friend, and they were close since they were kids. In her past life, they were discovered to be mates on their eighteenth birthday, and on that special night, she surrendered herself to him. Everything was perfect on her eighteenth birthday, and Nadine wondered if it would still be perfect this time.

“Can you get me a cup of coffee please?” Nadine asked Kate because she wanted to be alone for a moment. When the woman nodded, she sighed in relief.

However, by the time she was alone, she recalled the event when she totally surrendered herself to Alpha Marcus for the first time. She shivered while trying to dismiss the vivid memory but she couldn’t stop it from playing inside her mind!
