She pulled away from me, looking startled.

"I… I had no idea," she muttered, staring in another direction.

"Hey," I called, making her look at me.

"I know you had no idea about my pack's traditions, but don't be scared, okay?" She nodded.

"Are you a virgin?"

She shook her head, and I nodded in understanding. I couldn't deny my disappointment.

"You're not a virgin," I muttered under my breath, and my jaws clenched. Silence reigned between us as I watched her. I wanted to act as if I wasn't affected, but I was.
