Jax and I were about to get up, but Max and Ivory signaled us to stay where we were. Max then stood up and faced the man who might have disturbed the banquet he was hosting for his guests—us.

"What the hell, Bryan? Don't you have any manners to say that in front of our guests?"

"I'm sorry, Alpha. This is a message from Mr. Alsen."

Max sounded grumpy, didn't react at all for a while, and then responded to his subordinate's words. "I'll talk to grandfather myself later. Now leave us and go back to your work!"
