ARTHUR’S POV
I entered the mansion with Natasha right beside him. The servant lined up to greet me but my eyes kept roaming round the mansion. I wasn’t expecting to see her but……
“Natasha!!” A loud scream was held. I raised my head immediately and found Chloe, my younger sister running towards us.
"Natasha, I've missed you like crazy!"
In a theatrical display, she wrapped her arms around Natasha, clinging to her and putting on a cutesy act.
I heard Natasha chuckled as she gently patted Chloe’s head.
Natasha said softly,
“Why do you still behave like you're five?"
Natasha moved her gaze back to me until I locked eyes with her.
“Of course, it's only you, my little sweetheart, who seems to think of me."
She added meaningfully still looking at me.
"Are you kidding? My brother's been missing you. The moment he heard you were coming back, he kicked his wife to the curb!"
Chloe said and I just swallowed hard, feeling the tightness in my chest.
I don’t love her right, then why do I feel this way?.
“Tasha?” Someone uttered beside us.
“Mother!”
Natasha said and rushed out of my sight. She ran towards my mom who was just climbing the stairs and embraced her tightly.
“You’re back. I miss you child. Now that you’re back, you can take what rightfully belongs to you”my mom said.
“Yes mother. I’m back to take what’s rightfully mine “ she muttered.
My phone buzzed at that moment. I checked it and it was a message from my best friend Grey.
“I’m at the crescent Bar. Care for a drink?”
I smiled and dipped the phone back into my pocket.
I stared at the lovely atmosphere at the moment. They were all engrossed in their conversation
“I will be back mom, Tasha”
I said and left the mansion. I headed straight to the crescent bar. It was a popular bar here in New Zealand.
When I got to the bar, it was crowded nor like normal days when it’s fill with just few people.
I saw Grey in the midst of the crowd and walked towards him.
I order for two bottles of Vodka. We engaged ourselves in a conversation.
Soon the bartender arrived with my orders. It didn’t take me 20 minutes to gulped than all the drinks.
I felt empty. I felt like something was missing in my life.
“Are you still brooding? You know Arthur, I’m tired of having to nag you to get stuff done when you were always on top of it all. Why even divorce her if you can’t deal with it?”
I look up at Grey, my best friend, but I choose not to answer him.
“You know Grey. I didn’t think she’d accept it. Gwen loves me so much to accept it just like that” I mutter, taking another bottle of Vodka.
Grey scoffs.
“Yeah, you just decided to hurt her for no real reason and wanted her to beg you to keep her? You hurt her by going back to your ex.”
I know…
But what I don’t get is why did she accept it so easily?
I’ve known Gwen for three good years. She’s always been a girl determined to get what she wanted, and she had always had a crush on me right from when grandfather brought her to the mansion.
How could she simply just walk away without even trying to fight for me? It left me feeling as if she was in a hurry to get rid of me.
“You know, man, since we’re on the topic, you really don’t need to get married to Natasha.”
He said and I scoffed.
“And why should I do that?” I ask, raising an eyebrow.
He shakes his head, “she’s sure a pretender. You’ve been with this girl since childhood. I wondered why you can’t see her real self. She’s not who you think she is.”
He said.
“What are you saying?” I growl.
He looks at me seriously.
“Even if you’ve to marry someone else, it shouldn’t be Natasha. She’s a whore, a manipulator and less I forget, a good liar.”
He said and I scoff.
“Well, You don’t have to make up lies about her just because you don’t like her. I’ve been with Natasha since my childhood days. I know what she’s capable of. I know all of her. I love her and she loves me as well. She’s the woman for me. During the past three years Gwen was with me, I couldn’t stop thinking of her. Isn’t that enough reason that I love her?”
He scoffs. “Really man? Like you really want to make their menace your wife”
“You shouldn’t call Natasha a menace you know. You’re my friend so you should learn to accept what I say.”
I uttered.
“You are an arrogant man. I’m not gonna ever accept her. On top of that, you aren’t ready to publicly tell anyone you are divorced. What is that all about?”
I don’t respond, my brows furrowing. I don’t even know why I have kept Natasha and the divorce a secret for now.
I’ve never been this confused.
“Are you even listening to me?. Natasha doesn’t deserve you. Make everything right now when you can. “ he said.
I glare at him as he continues, unphased by my rising anger.
“Seriously though, Gwen was the one for you. She was gorgeous even this she dressed like a librarian. I don’t even see what you see in Little Miss Plastic Natasha.
Gwen was perfect, her hair, the way it bounced with every step. Remember how it used to fall over her eye, no matter how many times she’d push it back? Kinda like tempting you to do it for her? And Godmade her for you. She was your destined wife.”
I frown at him, a flare of jealousy rushing through me.
“I guessed God isn’t right at that decision.” But he still continues.
“What are you even saying man?....God is always right. He knows all….But fine, her hot looks should have been enough. I mean her body, she was perfect, and by that, I mean those curves. You’re crazy not to want to be enjoying that-”
I snarl as I slam my phone on the table.
“Watch it!” I growl.
He jumps a little, shocked at my outburst. My chest heaves as I try to control my rage.
“That’s my woman you’re talking about.” I said in between gritted teeth.
“Your ex-woman Arthur, your ex. You divorce her, remember?”
My eyes flash dangerously.
Grey might be my best friend, but right now I am tempted to break his nose and ruin his pretty-boy face.
“I don’t care. She was my wife. That is something that won’t change.”
He raises an eyebrow. He was obviously angry.
“Right. Only you have Natasha now. I’m not going to claim her Arthur, but if someone does, you have no footing to stop it. You divorced her.”
I curse, slamming my fist into the table.
Just as i was about to speak, Grey blurted out, "Arthur, isn't that your ex wife?"
Turning my head around immediately, I saw Gwen, radiant in her cascading wavy hair, captivating makeup, and a striking red dress. Even at a distance, she was undeniably stunning.
Currently, she was with a man.
“Man, I never thought your ex wife would be so pretty. I know she was gorgeous but right now, she was looking more stunning"
He said and I balled my fist. My eyes widened when I saw Gwen kissed him.
I felt the tightness in my chest. So this was it?
Gwen left me for this man?
Was she cheating on me in our marriage?
Was she waiting for the right time to get rid of me?
They broke the short kiss and staring at her more closely, I realized she was drunk.
My head almost exploded as the man pulled her in another kiss.
Wait…..was he taking advantage of her.
Without any more waits, i rushed towards them.
“Get the fuck away from my wife!”
I growl throwing a punch on his face. He released Gwen immediately and I caught just when she passed out.
“What the Fuck is going on here!” We all heard a tiny voice.
I turned to see Lily. She was Gwen only friend.
She frown seeing Gwen in my arm.
I understand that look. She has never liked me.
“Why is she with you” she uttered, taking Gwen away from me.
“She’s my wife. You don’t expect me to answer that question!” I said and she scoffed.
“Ex wife!” She corrected.
She stared at Gwen in my arms.
“Wait. We’re you taking advantage of my friend you asshole!” She yelled.
Me? A asshole?
“He’s the one trying to take advantage of her not me!” I corrected pointing at the unknown man.
Her eyes widened as she turned her gaze to the man.
“Dylan!!!” She screamed shocked.
“It’s you Dylan! It’s really you” she was said excitedly.
I furrowed my brows. Who was it.
“Can i get an autograph……. pretty please?” She said, not minding if I was there.
“Sure!” He replied with a smile.
She quickly brought a note pad from her bag and handed it to him.
He signed it and handed it back to her.
“Oh my God. I can’t believe this!” She couldn’t help but giggled.
“Your friend seems to have passed out…. I can book a suite for the both of you!”
He said and I scoff.
Is he trying to show off his wealth in my presence?
“Really?” Lily giggled again.
“Why don’t you book it for my friend and spend the night with her. Actually, today is my birthday and I can’t just leave my friends hanging” she said and my eyes widened.
There’s no way I’m letting this man spend the night with my wife.
“Don’t refused me and please take care of her.” She said.
What?
Have she gone crazy?
“You’re not doing that!” I finally spoke.
Lily hand over Gwen to him and he carried her in a bridal style.
“Take her away from here. I will handle him” she said.
“You have gone crazy. I have no business with you young lady!. That’s my wife we’re taking about!!” I yelled and she rolled her eyes and slap her forehead.
“Your ex wife. Should I keep reminding you. Please leave and don’t ruin my birthday party for me!” She said and at that moment, Grey appeared.
“Let’s leave man!” He said and I shook my head.
“That stranger took Gwen. He took her away!” I said.
“Don’t create a fuss. Let’s leave quietly. She’s no longer your wife” he replied, pulling me out of the bar.
“Fuck!”
I balled my fist. I couldn’t get over the fact that Gwen was gonna spend the night with a stranger.
I’m going crazy.
