The car rolled onto the vast terrazzo tile layout that ran through the huge gates to the tall, imposing school. I stepped out and paid the driver, not without contemplating asking him to stay while I got the kids. It would save us time, but this was New York; no one cared for anything if it didn't earn them quick money, plus the bald driver didn't strike me as someone who would be considerate.

I rustled out a sigh, turned, and walked into the school after flashing my parent ID card. I navigated my way through the halls, kids running past with bubbling smiles that always warmed my heart....
