NATALIE’S POV.

The lady beside me bowed and excused herself, giving me a look of ‘I’ll be waiting for you,”.

She quickly excused herself, and I faced him—wondering why he had stopped me.

“Yes?” I stared at him with a creased brow, as I wondered why he had to stop me.

“You look pretty,” He started by touching my face, and I glared at him angrily—wondering what he was up to.

“Would you mind following me to my humble abode?” He said, trailing hands on my body—towards my breast.

“Was this how the people of this city behave?” I wondered in shock—still staring at him as I tried my best to control my anger.

“I’m going nowhere,” I said and made to walk out when he tried to grab my hands.

I have had enough!

Anyone could try to maltreat me or hate me—but they should never attempt to sexually assault me.

I raised my hands—and gave him a very tight slap across his cheek—as he glared at me really hard.

“What did you just do?” He questioned, but my anger tripled as I pointed a finger at his face—staring at him angrily.

“I slapped you, and I’ll do it again if you don’t respect yourself—” I spat, glaring at him viciously before walking out of his presence.

That was it—

I had managed to escape my pack, but I would never endeavor to tolerate rubbish in this new pack—

I walked out and headed straight to the lady, who stared at me with widened eyes—it was obvious that she had seen what had transpired between me and the man.

“You’re lucky,” She said, as we headed straight to her house…

Still, I suddenly began to ponder on why she made that statement—

Why?

“Why did you say that I was lucky?” I asked slowly, hoping it doesn’t turn out to be something that’ll endanger my life.

She heaved and turned to face me—

“He is the Beta’s friend, so it’s really rare to see someone that will slap him,” She said, and my eyes widened.

“So he’s related to the Beta?” I asked absentmindedly, and she nodded, heaving deeply.

“I didn’t know….and I’m sorry—but he tried making sexual advances towards me, and also asked me to follow him to his place,” I said and she breathed deeply.

“It’s not your fault—you’re new here, and he has always been like that, but none has ever dared to slap him,” She said, and I breathed deeply.

I suddenly began to hope within me that I wasn’t going to cross paths with him again—because that was the only way I’d be scot-free in this place.

I just couldn’t believe I had caused myself trouble on my first day in this city—I groaned silently and breathed deeply.

She suddenly stopped walking and that was it—I noticed we were home.

It was a mansion—as it looked stunning.

I gasped in shock as the exterior decor was something that captured my interest.

“This is beautiful,” I gasped, and the lady chuckled before walking in, I trailed behind her slowly.

With her baby in her hands, she took me to a room—and announced the room as mine.

“Huh?” I said confusingly—

The room was twice as big as my former house in the other city—

“Is this mine?” I asked again for the umpteenth time and she nodded smilingly.

I quickly went on my knees, thanking her profusely, as tears escaped my eyes.

“Please stop!” She said and pulled me up with her left hand, using the other hand to hold her baby.

“Thank you very much,” I said again, and she flashed me a smile, before turning to leave—but she suddenly stopped, facing me instantly.

“I’ll come to check up on you again,” She said, and I nodded smilingly—before she left fully, closing the door slowly behind her.

“Oh my goodness—thank you so much, Moon goddess,” I said excitedly, as I felt loved for the first time in how many years.

Dropping my box on the bed, I arranged my personal stuff in the room—since the room was tagged mine already.

I entered the room to freshen up, but ended up spending time in the bathtub as the water managed to soothe my skin.

After spending close to fifteen minutes in the bathroom, I came out wrapped in a towel—as I quickly dressed up in a night wear.

Then I was done!

I laid on the bed, as different thoughts ran through my head….

When I suddenly began to think of him—Alpha Asher.

I slapped myself really hard, wondering why he suddenly crossed my mind—

Heaving deeply, I tried to force myself to sleep when I heard a knock on my door.

“It must be her,” I thought, and went to open the door.

She was the one!

“Hey,” I flashed her a beautiful smile, before opening the door widely for her to come in.

She walked in, flashing me another smile—

“Hi,” She smiled, sitting on the bed with a pillow in her hands as she tried to make herself comfortable.

“Yeah, what about the baby?” I asked—and she chuckled.

“It’s baby Lina…and she’s asleep,” She replied, and I mouthed an O, before flashing her a light smile.

“And you are?” I asked and she chuckled lightly.

“Audrey!” She said and I nodded—

“I’m Natalie,” I said, and she nodded lightly.

“So nice to meet you, Natalie,” She said and I chuckled.

“Come, let's have dinner downstairs—” She said, and almost immediately—my stomach rumbled, making my face turn red in embarrassment.

“Let’s go!” She said, and pulled me downstairs, before serving it out.

Wait, what?

“Was she the only one living here?” I asked myself in shock, still wondering when she had the time to cook this food.

“You cooked it?” I was shocked when she nodded—but she cleared my confusion—

“But it was yesterday—just warmed it up now,” She said, and I nodded slowly.

After dishing, She sat down and began to eat—

We dug into our food as it seemed like we were both lost in our thoughts—when she suddenly broke the silence.

“Who are you?” She asked, staring at me seriously.
