I jerked awake and looked around the room. I realized that I had slept off sometime during the night. As I looked around with confusion because of the fog that was blocking my mind, i gradually began to remember the things that had been happening.
The painful realization that Natalie had been gone for a full day hit me and I nearly collapsed. Not physically. The mental forte I had spent the entire previous day trying to build to hide me from the anguish, guilty and stress that were threatening to overwhelm me.
