The line went dead, but William's threat replayed over and over again in my head.

“Alvara?“ Kai's voice called out behind me, making me aware of his presence.

Whisking around, I put down my phone. “Yes?“

“You seem distracted. Is there a problem?“

Kai doesn't know that Williams has been calling me. Telling him now didn't seem like the right time.

“No problem at all. Shall we go back to what we were doing?“

“Sure.“

Kai and I moved back to the bedroom, wrapping up our shared ideas for my new design.
