Kai stopped chewing. For a few seconds, he didn't react at all.
Slowly, his head turned. “Why would you ask that?”
His tone was strong. I could tell he was angry but was trying to hold it in.
I tried to shrug it off casually. “I was just thinking. That's all.”
“You've never mentioned a surrogate before.”
“I know.”
“So why now?”
Forcing a small smile, I revealed, “Because I just thought maybe someday you'd want a child that looks like you.”
He scoffed, “Really? How thoughtful.”
He was angry. I could tell.
