I watched Kai's interview when I'd gotten home. Turning off the TV, I picked up my phone to call him but hesitated.
“He must be busy cleaning up the mess I made,” I mumbled.
Kai looked calm during the interview, even though it was clear the reporter had been trying to get a reaction out of him.
Dropping my phone on the couch, I rubbed my temples. The interview replayed in my head.
Kai had protected the project, the company, and most of all—me.
The doorbell rang.
With caution, I stood and walked to the door.
“Who is it?” I called, hoping it wasn't another surprise visit from Quinn...
