Tessa and Gina walked around Blackwood Mansion, the moonlight catching the shimmer of gold along the high bannisters.

Gina’s eyes were wide as she turned in a slow circle, her heels clicking against the tiles.

“Holy shit, Tessa,” she breathed, her laughter echoing through the foyer. “This place looks like it could swallow the entire street back home. Are you sure you don’t get lost in here?”

Tessa laughed, though her hands fidgeted at the hem of her blouse. “I told you it’s big, didn’t I?”

“Big?” Gina snorted. “Where is your room? In a whole other dimension?”

Tessa shook her head, half amused, half anxious. “East wing. Next to...
