Ashford walked in, balancing a tray of laden food on both hands, and set it down on the table. “Lunch is served”, he said as he began to present the food. “Smoked biltong, root vegetable mash, wild mushroom soup…”

He continued to drop one plate after another until the table was overflowing with food.

“Am I supposed to eat all these?” I asked, laughing.

“Of course you are”. Ashford pulled up a chair and sat next to the bedside. “You've been asleep for three days now and haven't had anything to eat, so now that you're awake… we have to make up for it”.
