Reika's funeral was a sad affair. Somehow, through the years we'd been friends and the years we hadn't, I never thought I would attend this ceremony so soon. I'd actually thought my own funeral would be first. Reika was always so careful, so rational. 

I expected her to outlive me by decades. But she died protecting our daughter. It was more than I did. More than I would ever be able to do. 

Kira was inconsolable.
