“I hate you, Emma. Because of you, Robert broke up with me. He said I wasn’t as good as you. You’re a bad luck charm,” Thea said, her voice full of hatred and hitting home.

My heart clenched at her words. This wasn’t the first time I’d heard hurtful words, but, still, it made this moment extremely uncomfortable. “I’m done with you guys. I have a family,” I said firmly, trying to stand on my feet despite the weight of it all.
