I could see that they were impressed, even though there was a lingering doubt in their eyes. Thea sat beside me, looking a little anxious, as if afraid that this conversation would turn into an endless interrogation. But I knew I had to stay calm and maintain control.

“And what are your plans for the future, James?” her father asked, his tone a little sharper this time. “We wanted to know how you see your future with Thea.”
