The first light of the morning broke through the gap in-between the curtains and rested on rested on my face. I rubbed my eyes and reached out for Artemis, but my hands caught just the pillow. It was then that I realized I had not been awake all night.

I shrugged and turned over to meet the empty space with the pillow that had long lost her warmth. I sighed. She must have been such an early bird to have left the bed before me.
