“That was Aidan,” I murmured, staring at Kane who had now disconnected the call. “You called him?” I asked again, tethering at the edge of the couch where Kane sat.

‘Why the hell, are you so affected by him so much?’ I questioned myself angrily but it did nothing to ease the throb I felt when I heard his voice.

“It was a business call,” was all Kane said, while watching me intently.
