Chapter 6 strip of hope

Chapter 6

Cora POV.

My index fingers ran along the red lash mark around my cheeks and I winced in pain, my chest clutched with discomfort and I snapped my neck backward, only to see thousands of eyes on me, they won't stop looking, torturing me with their deadly gaze and a waves of embarrassment pierced into my skin.

"What's up with those eyes?" my voice cracked, barely audible as they all looked away at once, teasing their jaw.

I managed to drag myself out of their view and moved straight to my cabin; as I watched the way blood started oozing from my deep wound at a fast pace, tears welled up at the corner of my eyes, and I swallowed my stomach.

I was overwhelmed with the pain, and, my breath increased; my heart kept ramming against my ribcage.

I sat down, as tears skittled out of my eyes, my long eyelashes blinked, and I balled my fist together in anger.

It hurt a lot. I groaned out in pain.

All he'd planned was just to torture me even when I did nothing wrong... "he's a beast, same as Alex" I rolled my brows as I weep off the trace of tears on my face.

I fixed my eyes on the system, the sound of keyboard clicking took over the silent office and I let out a deep sigh.

Within some seconds, my phone buzzed loudly, then I flipped it up, my heart leaps up my throat, and my brain goes muted as my eyes read the first paragraph of the message over and over again. "What?!?" I screamed, with my brows raised above my head and my eyes nearly popped out of its socket.

My money?!?. It's gone!!.

My hands moved unsteadily as regret skimmed through my whole body. The haunted memories flooded into my head that I once shared my bank password with Alex. I felt my blood draining from my veins, and then I leaned my back on the hard wall as my face went extremely white, including my lips.

My life savings are gone within the blink of an eye; I can't hold it anymore; I let the tears flow out of my eyes freely.

My legs stamped on the cold floor angrily, and then my hands raked into my long, curly hair as I clicked my tongue inside my mouth; my body was quivering so badly.

I slapped my hand on my forehead, trying my best to calm my nerves down, but my body gave up and took over me; he had woken up the lion inside me; I could see myself storming forward to his office, with anger blazing in my eyes with my reddened face. My hair flowed in the atmosphere in action.

I halted in front of his office as my hands snaked up at the doorknob, then twisted it. It crepted open and I burst into his office without knocking. "What have you done, Alex?" my voice cut into the silent air, and his eyes lit up on my face; he looked so calm as if nothing just happened a few minutes ago.

His lips parted. "What do you mean?" he questioned back. He cocked his neck then his lips formed a deadly smirk as I confirmed the truth from his teasing jaw.

"You took the money, my life savings," I mumbled in a whisper; his smile went wider as his hands toyed with the table.

He motioned himself closer to me, his step heaved with authority, and I moved a step backward; my legs finally froze up on a spot as my back hit the hall wall slowly; his hot breath reeked against my skin, and my heart nearly dropped down from its bottom.

The room went too hot all of a sudden, and my heart pace increased, his hand caged my body against the wall; his eyes stayed glued to mine, and I frowned. "You are so annoying." I forced out the word through my clenched teeth, and he rolled his eyes in frustration.

"I love playing with fire, Cora, show me your worst; I think you love my surprise." his hand wrapped around my hand, and he gripped it so hard that I narrowed my gaze. He paused, then continued," I never loved you, Cora; let's keep the game steady," he added, then shifted away from me.

"I'm gonna report you to the police," I spoke, and he only laughed; I, myself, knew it was only a waste of time if I involved any police in this matter; no one would ever believe me if I told them Alex Logan, my ex-boyfriend empty my account.

"Go ahead, let's see who loses," he remarked coldly; his ice-blue eyes burned on my skin, and a shiver embraced my lips.

I folded my fists together and hissed so loud; he knew how much I needed this money. I needed to treat my mother, and now I was stuck in the web of useless family.

I stormed out of the angry and slashed the door hard on his face, I'd nothing with me, not even a dime.

"What?! he withdrew all the money you had with you," Evelyn exclaimed loudly in shock and moved closer to me with a cup of black coffee in her hand, my favorite drink. The favorite addiction that almost put me into trouble today.

I nodded, sipping the coffee slowly. "What's the next solution," she asked.

"I don't know" I clicked my tongue inside my mouth as my habit.

"You need this money, your mom needs this," she muttered calmly.

I blinked rapidly. "The hospital bills you paid will end tomorrow, and you need $40 million to renew it," Evelyn uttered, and I twisted my finger in frustration. God damn it, can't believe I forgot!!! I'd nothing left with me.

"I can't lose my mother, please help me" My face was filled with worries and she smiled, " I will help you if you can do this job just for a night" she mumbled calmly and I frowned my face in confusion, "what's that"

"You will be a stripper just for a night, earn $79 million." The words flooded out of her lips, and I didn't give it a second thought as I found myself nodding my head to the request.
