The days after the public gathering passed quietly and well. The pack saw me as Cassian's true mate now. Most treated me with respect. A few older wolves still whispered doubts. They said I was too defiant at first. They thought the bond might break. Cassian heard them one day at the training grounds. He shut it down fast. He grabbed the main talker by the neck. He lifted him off the ground and growled loudly until the male submitted fully. No one doubted after that.
