Smith shook his head slowly, and the redness suffused his cheeks. Willison could guess what they were talking about. He’d come close to walking in on Amelia and Smith a time or two, so he could imagine it was a regular hazard for Mia. Living with the loved-up couple couldn’t be easy for her.

“So tell me what’s going on with you,” Smith said, not attempting to hide the change of topic. “Is it the Neundorf job?”

Willison sighed. “Yes,” he said, “but that’s not all.”

“The house looks amazing,” Amelia said.

“But not very Hope Springs,” Mia added.

Amelia shrugged. “That’s not a bad thing.”
