Marksman opened his eyes to find Ember staring at him in the early morning light.
“Were you watching me sleep?” he asked, his voice rough from having just woken up.
“Is that creepy? It’s creepy, isn’t it? Whatever,” Ember said, swishing her hand between them like she was trying to wipe away her words. “I was just surprised you were still here. I was checking that you weren’t a mirage.”
Marksman grinned and rolled to his side, propping himself up on his elbow so he could make eye contact with her. “I’m not the one-and-done kind,” he said.
