Iris cooked the dinner in the evening while the old lady was outside. She didn't want to live like a free-loader person in that house. She tasted the soup and put the bowl aside.
"Why are you cooking? I could have done this work," Dorothy said as she entered the kitchen with a basket in her hand. She put the basket on the counter.
"I thought to cook for us, Grandma. You gave me a place to live and I appreciate you for that," Iris asserted with a smile. "I will set the table for us," she affirmed.
