The image of Eva and Toby together in bed haunted me, fueling my anger and distrust. I couldn't shake the feeling of betrayal, the weight of my emotions suffocating me. Even the tears in her eyes didn't affect me one bit. I was really mad.
"How can you expect me to believe you?" I snapped, my voice raw with pain. "Why are you even defending him?"
"Who says I'm defending him?" Eva's eyes pleaded with me to understand, but I was beyond reason, my mind clouded by suspicion. "If you don't want to believe me, fine. Leave. Both of you."
