I turned quickly and walked towards the door, but my steps stopped when I heard Darwis's deep voice behind me.

“Kate, wait. Don't go like this," Darwis called, his tone full of despair.

I turned around slowly, looking at him with eyes still wet with tears. “What else do you want to say, Darwis? You have made your choice clear.”
