Erlan's POV

When the black car approached, my heart beat fast. I tried to look inside the car, looking for any sign of Kate. The car door opened, and a man got out with his face covered.

"Is the money ready?" he asked in a cold voice.

"I have," I answered, trying to remain calm as I handed him the bag containing the ransom money. "Where's Kate?"

The man smiled faintly and took the bag from my hand. He saw the amount of money we prepared and smiled happily when he found out that I really gave him the money as agreed.
