Daria's POV
Hearing my name pulled from that mouth sent a chill crawling up my spine, something old and cold. It wasn’t fear, not really; I had seen fear many times to mix it up with anything else. This was knowing. Whatever had come from that tunnel knew me.
“Daria." The name came again wet and rough as if the creature’s throat hadn’t spoken in centuries and hated the work.
Lucius stood still, his sword arm steady. I could feel him tighten beside me. "It knows you.”
“I heard it." My voice came out calmer than I felt inside. "Get back.”
“Not without you.”
