Daria's POV
The forest seemed to be standing in suspension.
I did not know the reason for the great silence, but someone was trampling us; there we cowered in the distorted roots of an old tree. Harriet was seated beside me, trembling as best she could despite her efforts to remain motionless. I threw a great glamour over us, and smeared it with the charms of Silas and mine. We were shadows and moss, to all appearance. We smelled of cold stone and damp earth to the nose.
Still, I was freaking out.
They are here, Harriet said, with barely a movement of the lips.
"I know," I murmured back....
