Raga’s footsteps echoed steadily down the corridor leading to Devandra’s office. The black folder in his hand felt heavier than usual, as if the papers inside carried the weight of a ticking bomb. He drew in a sharp breath before knocking.
“Come in,” Devandra’s voice called—flat, but tinged with alertness.
