“Just one issue after the other.” I cursed.

Too much had happened in the span of a few days. I sat behind my desk, staring at the open report in front of me, but my mind refused to settle on the words.

My eyes traced the sentences again and again, yet none of it mattered as much as the thought clawing at the back of my head. Still, the report mocked me with its presence.

Lucien had threatened Mrs. Jocelyn. He had forced her hand to take Selena back into her employment. The statement was there in ink, a testimony from one of my sources inside her office....
