Ryan’s POV

My heart hammered so hard against my chest I could feel it pounding in my ears like it was trying to give us both away right there in the backseat. 

I opened my mouth to say something to make this stop but before a single word could come out Mom’s voice cut through the car again her tone all concerned and mom-like.

“Don’t tell me you guys are fighting over there?” she asked, twisting her head just enough to glance back at us with that raised eyebrow look she always gives when she thinks we are about to start some dumb brother argument.
