The family SUV was packed so tight it felt like we were all jammed into a metal box on wheels, every inch of the middle row buried under bags and coolers and all the random junk from our weekend trip so that only this tiny sliver of backseat was left for me and Ethan.
Up front Dad had both hands locked on the steering wheel like he was fighting the road itself while Mom kept tapping at the GPS screen and their voices were already climbing over each other about traffic and parking near the indie cinema.
