The scream died in my throat, replaced by a gargling sound as my jaw began to unhinge. Agony doubled, causing my body to shiver.

A spike drove into the base of my skull, forcing my back to arch until I heard the sickening pop of my spine lengthening. I clawed at the dirt, my fingernails snapping as my hands reshaped themselves into something brutal.

“Stop!” I tried to yell, but the word was already losing its human shape, coming out as a guttural roar.
