Marek was the one who led me to the training grounds. Xander had wanted to come along, but he’d received urgent word about an emergency meeting with the pack elders.

"Go," I told him, even though my stomach was doing backflips. "I’ll be fine with Marek."

He didn’t look convinced, but he let me go.

Now, standing at the edge of the wide clearing, I wished I hadn’t been so brave. The moment we stepped onto the field, the world stopped. Hundreds of warriors—men and women significantly stronger than me—turned to gawk.
