The subtle fears I had once dispelled, now reared its ugly head at me, mocking me to my face.
I had somehow been expecting this, from the first few hours she woke from her unconsciousness. The detachment. I perfectly understood the gravity of what she went through and like her father had told me, “It will be rocky from here on”.
