Sophie’s pov

“Power’s about to shit itself any second with the way this storm is hitting.” I said it while standing at the kitchen window watching the trees bend hard outside.

It was after seven and the rain hadn’t let up once since we got back.

Daniel still hadn’t left. We had finished the first beers and moved on to a second round and the kitchen felt smaller every time he shifted his weight against the counter.

His shirt had dried some but it still clung in places across his chest and I kept catching myself staring at the solid shape of him under the fabric.
