Chapter 8: A Few Misleading Photos

"As a junior, it's only right!" Joshua scratched his head awkwardly, "Last time we met briefly, I caused quite a scene at the Kroes family. Goddess, you won't hold it against me, will you?"

"Of course not. It was the Kroes family who wronged you last time. I'll treat you to a proper meal when I have the chance," Rianne said with a hint of apology.

She had always been at odds with the Kroes family, and last time, she had used Joshua to get back at them.

She owed him a favor.

"I have time now!" Joshua grinned widely.

Rianne glanced at the distant set and smiled helplessly, "Sorry, I'm still tied up with work right now."

Joshua, understanding the situation, said, "Then let's arrange it for another time. We've missed you at the class reunions over the years. This weekend, I'll gather everyone so we can make up for the missed gatherings. Goddess, what do you think?"

Worried that Rianne might refuse, Joshua quickly added, "Many of our classmates from Drakroit will be there, including our old teacher, Ms. Baxter. It'll be a lot of fun."

Contrary to his expectations, Rianne's face turned cold.

"A class reunion isn't necessary. We can have a private meal when we're free," she said, her tone laced with complex emotions.

Joshua stood there, bewildered. "Goddess, did I say something wrong just now? Did I upset you?"

"It's not your fault," Rianne replied softly, a faint pain flickering in her heart.

Marcus probably wouldn't want her to reappear and disturb his life.

Sensing her change in mood, Joshua quickly shifted the topic, soon restoring the pleasant atmosphere of their conversation.

Their happy meeting was captured by the passing Abigail.

"Rianne, you, a married woman, flirting with another handsome guy on set. I'll expose your true colors to Brother ‌Michael and see if he still defends you."

Abigail, having been occupied by Stella lately, finally found an opportunity to stir trouble for Rianne. She deliberately took several photos from a suggestive angle and sent them to ‌Michael.

In the conference room.

‌Michael was reprimanding his staff, rejecting several project proposals. The project managers were diMarcusrtened.

It wasn't that their proposals were poor; ‌Michael's standards were just too high. Every detail had to be perfect.

They were inwardly screaming: We can't do it! But no one dared to argue with ‌Michael.

Unless they wanted to leave the company.

At that moment, ‌Michael's phone buzzed. His sharp gaze fell on it, and his pupils constricted in the next second. The atmosphere in the room froze instantly.

‌Michael's eyes darkened, almost dripping with anger.

Abigail had sent him several photos of Rianne with Joshua, along with a message: "Brother ‌Michael, this Rianne doesn't respect you at all. Even after marrying you, she's still flirting with another man on set. I saw them holding hands and acting very intimately. They even arranged to have a private meal later. Who knows what they'll do, alone together!"

‌Michael stared at the photos of Rianne smiling radiantly at another man, his grip on the phone tightening.

His dark eyes swirled with rage, his expression unreadable. Everyone watched their silent boss with bated breath.

"Mr. Palmer... shall we continue the meeting?"

"Screech!"

The chair scraped harshly against the floor, and everyone flinched, bowing their heads hurriedly.

"Meeting adjourned!" ‌Michael grabbed his coat and stormed out, his face a stormy mask.

Half an hour later, a Maybach pulled up at the set of "Divine Demon," drawing immediate attention from the crew.

It was the car ‌Michael had driven last time he visited the set.

The assistant director rushed to greet him, fawning, "Mr. Palmer, what brings you to the set today?"

‌Michael didn't answer, striding in with a commanding presence that made the assistant director uneasy.

Recalling ‌Michael's murderous glare when Rianne was previously hurt on set, he hurriedly explained, "Mr. Palmer, Ms. Kroes is perfectly fine and working diligently on set. The previous accident will never happen again, you have my word."

"Is that so?" ‌Michael's eyes narrowed, emitting a chilling aura.

The assistant director shrank back in fear and quickly said, "Absolutely, Mr. Palmer! I'll take you to her immediately!"

Wiping the cold sweat from his face, the assistant director led the way.

‌Michael soon spotted Rianne in the distance, earnestly instructing an actor.

Her expression was rare—serious and focused. Her brows were slightly furrowed, her high ponytail revealing an elegant neckline. The sunlight highlighted her delicate features, making her appear both efficient and beautiful.

‌Michael paused, his emotions cooling.

Noticing the tension easing in ‌Michael's demeanor, the assistant director sighed in relief, thinking: Mr. Palmer truly dotes on Ms. Kroes. We must never be careless in our work again.

Seizing the moment, he brought a chair for ‌Michael, who sat down, his gaze never leaving Rianne.

The assistant director, eager to please, began to praise her, "Ms. Kroes, as the last disciple of the martial arts master Vang Clan, is exceptionally skilled. Her guidance has greatly enhanced the quality of our action scenes. Watching them makes me want to join in the fight!"

"Oh? The assistant director still has such enthusiasm," ‌Michael responded nonchalantly, his eyes still fixed on Rianne, but his tone noticeably calmer.

The assistant director chuckled nervously, "Old in age but young at heart."

‌Michael's mere presence commanded the attention of everyone on set. Naturally, Rianne noticed him and was slightly surprised.

Isn't he supposed to be at the company? Why is he here?

Their eyes met briefly across the crowd before Rianne returned her focus to work.

As one of the financiers of the show, it wasn't unusual for ‌Michael to visit the set.

She dismissed the notion that he might be there specifically for her.

The scene they were about to shoot involved the heroine participating in a martial arts tournament and emerging victorious, requiring numerous action sequences. The choreography had to account for the martial prowess of each character while ensuring the scenes flowed seamlessly.

Particularly for the heroine's role.

The director wanted the action scenes to be as fluid and powerful as possible while incorporating Stella's dance background to add grace, fitting her character as the most beautiful disciple of her sect.

However, Stella had repeatedly failed to execute the scenes successfully.

The physical demands and multiple takes left her frustrated, leading her to throw a tantrum on set, "Director, this fight scene is too difficult. I'm not a professional. How can I possibly do it? I think Ms. Kroes is intentionally making things hard for me."
