Laura's POV.
"Alpha, the meeting is starting." The Beta came inside the room he left me in, he turned to me glaring hard at me.
I swallowed looking away. I still remembered the promise he made to me.
He walked out of the room, I heaved a sigh of relief when he walked out, the tension and anger I saw rubbing off on him was scary.
I scanned the room looking for anything to keep me busy, I wanted to speak to him about us being mates, but it's obvious he did not like that, the pure undiluted hate I saw in his eyes was evidence enough.
I picked the business magazine I saw on the table and scrolled through it, I kept trying to wrap my head around everything once more, I still couldn't believe I had a mate again.
Dropping the magazine on the table, I jumped on the bed, inhaling the scent of the bed, it smelt so fresh, better than what I've always slept on, and it was soft, I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep.
*********
I woke up yawning loudly, I looked around the room, and I panicked for a few seconds, then I realized the room I slept in, and the memories of everything that happened yesterday hit.
I remembered that I have a new mate and that I was in his room right now.
I was in Alpha Darren's room, my mate, the psychotic alpha.
I saw a dent on the bed and I blushed, he must have been here last night and I didn't hear him while sleeping.
Though I'm sure he must have come in to strangle me.
I couldn't see him anywhere in the room, it was obvious he left, I wondered if it was yet another pack meeting, like the one he went to last night.
I wanted to try and tell him to not hate me, I was tired of having mates who hated me, but I wasn't sure he'd listen.
I knew it'll be about me, I was a rogue, and being his mate wouldn't change anything.
I knew I didn't belong anywhere, and I couldn't help but feel sad, it felt like I didn't fit in at all anywhere.
Sighting a strange door, I opened it and gasped when I saw the library.
It had lots of shelves that lined up every wall, it felt like a dream library, something I wouldn't see an alpha having, but he seemed intelligent.
"This place is nice." My wolf said.
"Oh well it is, but I'm still scared, nothing is easy, no one gets things easily and I feel like everything is just too good to be true," I said.
"I understand, but it's because you've been suffering before I even showed up." My wolf replied and I sighed remembering the years I suffered for not shifting early and not having a wolf, everything sucked then, and whatever I faced became worse year after year, after every werewolf my age shifted and I didn't, my life became more miserable, I didn't find peace in any form or manner.
"Luna." I jumped, dropping the book I held in my hands.
"Dean," I said when I saw him come closer, he was my mate's Nephew, the only one who made me feel welcome, but he was still wary.
"Good morning Luna," Dean said and I frowned, shaking my head. I wasn't a Luna, I wouldn't call myself that, I was weak, and I had a weak wolf, I wouldn't dream of being a Luna.
My mate hates me, he would make sure I don't exist even if he didn't reject me.
"Dean, I'm not a Luna," I said and he frowned, raising a brow.
"Call me Laura," I said and he smiled.
"Luna Laura." He said and I shook my glaring at him.
"I thought we talked about not calling me Luna?" I asked.
"How can I not call you Luna?" He shot back.
"Because I'm a rogue, and I'm not suited for that role," I said, closing the library quickly.
"It doesn't matter, you're the alpha's mate and that directly makes you the Luna, rogue or not." He argued.
"Well, I'm not sure the pack would accept me, no one will, I'm not that special." I said with a shrug.
"My uncle will accept you soon enough, just be patient."
"He has been mate-less and he will have no choice but to accept you," he added.
"You're smart, you know that right?" I said.
"I know, Uncle teaches me sometimes, and I read a lot, and train with him, he's so smart, making me become smart like him." He said and I chuckled.
I suddenly wondered how everyone who is scared of Alpha Darren would react when they find out he's a caring uncle, I'm sure they'll find it hard to believe as I felt right now.
I found it hard to believe, the alpha I saw yesterday wasn't the one I was hearing about today.
"Can I bring you food?" He asked and I nodded, my belly grumbled immediately and he laughed.
"What would you like?" He asked.
"Anything is fine." I said.
"Anything is nothing." He countered.
"Chicken," I said and he smiled running out of the room.
I felt slightly better when he left, he made me feel much better, and happier than I felt earlier.
I suddenly remembered what he said about the Alpha being mate-less, that he has waited a long time for his mate and I was shocked that he never had a mate, I even thought his mate died and he was given another, I didn't know he never had one and I was his mate after a long while.
It made me wonder what the moon goddess had in store, they said she's always full of surprises.
But I hoped he ended up liking me, I found myself attracted to him already.
"I've brought the chicken." Dean came in with a tray filled with chicken.
"Our chef's special, crispy chicken." He said and I inhaled while eating quickly.
It tasted so good I ate five without realizing it, "you were really hungry huh?" Dean asked.
"Yes, and it tastes so good," I replied and he smiled.
"Thanks," I said.
