Chapter 6 No choice
"Easy with her,” Mrs Harrison said as they helped Brielle on the wheel chair.
After spending a week in the hospital, Brielle has been discharged finally. The past few days has been nothing but horror for her. She has been wondering how her life would be when she leaves this hospital and now it's happening
“Careful with her okay? She will be the next Queen so you must watch how you touch her.” Mrs Harrison added, directly her words to the two female nurses who were helping Brielle into the wheel chair.
Brielle watched her secretly and she realized that apart from being someone who cares about appearance, Mrs Harrison is also a mother who doesn't care a bit for her child. Ever since the day she stormed in here, she never came back until today. Mrs Harrison never came around to check how her daughter is or to even call and same thing was done by her father. If they had been this way with the real Natalie, Brielle wondered how the girl had been coping. A parents love and care was everything and she is sure that Natalie’s parents never showed her the necessary love she needed and maybe that's why she turned out to be someone very cruel and heartless.
She was wheeled out of the hospital by the nurses, something that was unnecessary but with Mrs Harrison, you have to follow her rule.
‘Yes she is with me right now and we are already heading to the car. You don't have to worry, I will deal with everything.’ Mrs Harrison said as she answered her husband’s call.
‘I am certain Natalie already learnt from her mistake. And I am sure that she wouldn't do it again. As a matter of fact, I am here to make sure she doesn't mess things up again. So just make sure you concentrate on your work.’
As soon as Brielle was wheeled outside, she gasped when she saw the number of cars waiting for them.
"Curtsey of your future husband. When you see him, make sure to thank him. He couldn't make it today because he is so busy with the country affair." She tried to be as calm as possible.
Ever since the day she had a conversation with Sinclair, she haven't seen or heard from him. Just like Natalie’s parents, he never came back to the hospital and Brielle was grateful for that. Seeing him only makes her remember that she was here to kill him. That insane brother of hers, Archer has been on her neck and has no plans of giving on this mission. As soon as Archer gets the chance, he would ask her to kill him and just thinking about it gives her goose bumps.
With the help of the nurses, she was lifted into the car and the wheels was placed in the car booth even though she wouldn’t be needing them anymore. One signal from Mrs Harrison and the driver ignited the car and drove off. And other car followed suit. Just knowing that they were heading to the real Natalie Harrison’s house made Brielle feel guilty. While Mrs Harrison tapped away on her phone, Brielle stared outside with nothing catching her interest except the thoughts of her father. She hope that he is really safe.
The car pulled into an estate and as soon as it got to the main entrance, Brielle saw some maids already lined up outside awaiting their arrival. As soon as she got out of the car, they all greeted her and it made her feel like some sort of Empress. Some thing Brielle knows that she is not.
"Okay, that's enough! That’s enough. Go back to your work…it’s not like you really care about her.” Mrs Harrison said harshly and some of them scampered off.
“Why would you say that?” Brielle asked with a confused look on her face.
"You certainly don't like them and I am sure that with the way you have behaved with them, they won't want to wish you well. So there is no point in them giving you a grand greeting. Go ahead and settle in your room, I am so tired and need to have a good rest.”
While Brielle tried to set off to her room that she doesn’t know, two maids came to her and offered to help me to Natalie’s room. If they hadn't come, she would have stood wondering which room belonged to the real Natalie Harrison. They got to a door and opened it, Brielle walked in and saw that everything in there was expensive and beautiful. Natalie had been an only child and so it's expected of her to live a life full of luxury.
"A luxury I will be living in now." She whispered gently
"Miss Natalie, we are done with packing your things. If…If you need our help just ring the bell." One of the maids said, looking a bit scared.
"Okay. And thank you.” Brielle said only to receive a weird look from the both of them. They scampered out and she was left alone in the room.
Brielle was about taking a seat when she saw Natalie’s picture hanging on the wall. She walked towards it and touched it softly and a lone tear fell from her eyes.
"You didn't deserve to die. I am sorry, Natalie. I am really sorry for everything and forgive me if I am stealing your identity. But I have no choice, no choice at all." Brielle said to herself as she grieved over the poor girl.
And at that moment the door opened and she heard someone say, "A choice on what exactly?"
Brielle turned to find a pretty lady by the door, the figure which she recognized immediately. Natasha Miller, Sinclair’s sister and Archer’s wife. Her heart beat accelerated.
“Oh, I must have startled you right? I am sorry, the door was opened and I heard what you were saying." Natasha said as she walked in and closed the door properly behind her.
‘What did she hear? Did she hear everything I said now?’ Brielle thought as she stared at the beautiful lady who stood by the doorway.
"Are you there, Natalie?” Natasha asked when she gave no response.
Brielle jolted back to life. "Yes! Oh…sorry my mind drifted somewhere else. So what exactly did you hear me say?”
"About having no choice at all, I found it odd to hear the great Natalie Harrison saying she has no choice. You are someone who doesn't care about a thing and just go for it not caring if you get hurt. You…” She paused. “Sorry my mouth is running again." She said using a hand to cover her mouth
"No, It's no problem. I...” She paused, trying to think of what to say. “What you said just now is true, I mean the way you define me and what I was saying about having no choice means nothing. Don't pay attention to it.” Brielle told her giving her a little smile.
"Wow." Natasha said staring at her.
"What is wow?" Brielle asked.
"Your smile. You hardly wear a smile on your face. Since I first met you, I haven't seen you smile and this is the first time I am seeing you this way.” She replied.
"Oh.” Brielle mouthed, giving her another smile.
"You should just smile at my brother like that, I am sure that he would fall for you immediately.”
Just hearing her talk about the prince brought Brielle back to reality. "Why are you here?" She asked lightly.
"To see you and also because my brother asked me to come check up on you. It's a secret so don't tell anyone." She said.
"To check up on me?"
"Well you were in the hospital and he hardly had time to come see you so he asked me to come in his stead.”
"Oh that's it.” Brielle replied.
"Hope you are fully well? After the scandal and the accident, I have been worried about you. I wanted to come see you at the hospital but since we weren't that close I didn't dare and my husband told me not to go.”
The husband part made Brielle arch her brows. "Your husband?" She asked.
"Yes, his name is Archer. He is here with me and he is downstairs with your mom. You weren't interested in anything that concerned me or my family so I never got to introduce you both, I can do so now right?"
The thought of seeing Archer again made Brielle so nervous and scared.
"No, No." Brielle replied.
"Why?”
"I am…not too strong to see too many people…and I need more rest. I would like it if you give me the chance to." She made an excuse quickly.
"Okay. You need to recover quickly for the wedding. It's so good to talk to you without fighting. I don’t mean to offend you with my words but some how that accident did you good." She said touching her hand gently before leaving the room.
Brielle sighed heavily. Just knowing that Archer was somewhere in this house made her feel unsafe. She prayed silently that he leaves without coming to see her.
