I woke up to the beeping of monitors.

The last thing I could remember was talking to Adam. Did he say we lost our mum?

Two blurred figures were sitting next to me. They hurried to their feet the moment I opened my eyes. It was Ted and my dad.

“Are you okay, mum?” Ted asked.

“Victoria, can you see us?” My dad questioned. “Do we need to call the doctor?”

He was still asking when the doctor came in and took off the oxygen mask after checking my vitals. He hurried out and promised to be right back.
