I stepped out into the afternoon sun, shielding my eyes against the bright rays. I heard hearty laughter from the courtyard. My heart already knew what I’d see.
I turned around to see him. Bianca was with him.
Six stood near the fountain, his posture relaxed, arms crossed against his chest. Bianca was wearing a slim white dress and high red heels, her dark hair cascading in waves down her back.
She was resting one hand on his shoulder, and the other slid down his forearm—deliberately. He didn’t move away. He was staring at her, unbothered by her touch.
Then her eyes found mine.
