The docks smelled of salt, men hauled crates from boats, shouting orders over the sound of gulls.

Selene kept her hood low, her eyes scanning the crowd. Caius walked beside her. Kael followed a few paces behind.

They had left Lydia with Lena, at a safe place where Selene believed her grandma won't find them, in a church. It was safer that way than bringing Lydia along.

Romano led the way, cigarette in his mouth. “Letter said the shipment comes through here. If we’re lucky, your grandmother’s pen pal still likes punctuality.”
