“Stop being friends? I don’t really understand.”

“Selene… she meant it’s either I choose you or her.”

My face fell. “She actually said that? So… what’s your choice? Aria or me?”

For some reason, I was terrified to hear his answer.

“Are you really asking me that?” he said, quietly. “You know better than anyone how much Aria means to me. But I can’t stop being close to you either.”

“So will you forfeit your marriage then?”

Chris went silent.

“I’m still thinking about it,” he muttered. “I… I can’t pick, Selene.”

What was there to think about, anyway? As much as I wanted him to choose...
