I had little interest in whatever was happening downstairs. The noise, attention, Director Caius's annoying ass, it all grated on me. I slipped into the elevator and pressed the button for a higher floor, craving a breath of air that didn’t reek of unnecessary attention.

The elevator stopped, and when the doors slid open, I stepped out onto a quiet balcony. The air was cool, against my skin, carrying only the faint hum of the city below. No one else was here. Just silence.
