I went home feeling confused and frustrated. I went straight to my study, sat down, and loosened my tie.

My mind was filled with the scene of the banquet.

How did an orphan she-wolf suddenly become a powerful Alpha? Why did she lie to me in all the years that they had been together? What was her motive for lying to me?

Suddenly I remembered her words. If I had known, would I have loved her when I knew she was an Alpha? I would, of course, treat her differently, with much more respect, but would I fall for her?
