Leon’s car entered the mansion grounds at a slow pace. The clock on the dashboard showed two in the morning. The garden lights were dim, only a few still on, casting a calm yellow glow. Giselle leaned against the passenger seat, her eyes staring blankly out the window. She looked exhausted, yet her mind was still restless.

Leon turned off the engine and looked at her. “We’re home.”

Giselle nodded slowly. “Yes.”
