Matilda’s voice was crisp and professional as she scrolled through the tablet in her hand, listing out my schedule for the day.
I gave a distracted nod, but my mind was elsewhere.
Or rather, on someone else.
I sat there, staring at my phone longer than I cared to admit.
There was nothing.
Not a single call. Not even a text.
And I didn’t know why that bothered me so much.
I told myself it didn’t matter. That I didn’t care. That Liam could drop off the face of the earth, and it wouldn’t make a difference to me.
