I didn’t bother to turn; I knew exactly whose voice that was.
We used to be close, and I would have sworn loyalty to her years ago—before her mother attempted to take my life.

"If there’s anything you want to say, Daisy, go ahead and stop making a nuisance of yourself," I replied, brushing away the small strands of makeup meticulously applied to my face.
She stopped right behind me, glaring daggers at me through the reflection in the mirror. I scoffed at how unkempt my little sister looked. She mirrored her mother all too well.
