I felt my body go limp as the nurse pulled out the needle. “What did you do to me?” I asked in a drowsy voice as she bent down and unfastened the lock on the bed.
“You’ll find out soon,” she replied, arranging my hands on my stomach before draping a bedsheet over me.
I started trying to move whatever part of my body still felt alive. I wasn’t sure what exactly was happening, but my first priority was my babies. I had to make sure they were safe, no matter what.
