“What?” I lost my voice at this moment. “Antonio. I—” My words got lost too.

Did he hear himself?

Was he certain he wasn't drunk?

“Uhm, have you been drinking all through the night?” I took a moment to look at the desk. There were no signs of a bottle and a glass. “You may need to get some sleep if you ask me.”

“No, I'm fine. I'm sane, Amy. Very sane.”

And how could I confirm that?

“Can I kiss you?”

The question came again, shocking me to the marrow of my bones. “You don't have to—”...
